Poultry are highly prone to respiratory illnesses, often triggered by dust, ammonia, and poor ventilation conditions. Ammonia, in particular, impairs the function of cilia—tiny hair-like structures that normally help clear mucus from the airways. This mucus acts as a crucial first line of defense against respiratory pathogens. When ciliary movement or mucus quality is compromised, it increases the risk of infections caused by bacteria, fungi, and viruses, which can spread to the lungs, air sacs, and even bones, becoming difficult to treat. Mucolytic agents help by thinning thick mucus, making it easier for the cilia to clear the respiratory tract efficiently. For enhanced and faster relief, mucolytics are often paired with expectorants. OREGO-UP combines the benefits of eucalyptus oil, which functions as a natural expectorant, and mint oil, which serves as an effective mucolytic—together providing rapid respiratory relief in poultry.
